What’s New? A Guide to Our Upgraded Website

31 January 2023

Our new website is live! We have compiled here an overview and a Q&A selection to guide you through the changes and new features.

The new homepage

The new homepage gives users immediate access to our latest publications as well as to our upcoming events.

We have created a new section called Getting Started: in Business Basics, European companies at the early stages of their internationalisation path will find our selection of useful information. We have also revamped our FAQs and Self-Diagnosis Tool, as well as added easy contact and increased interactivity with our partners all across Europe and China.

The EU SME Centre services

You will find on the homepage and in the new Services megamenu our key activities for European SMEs: Advice, Advocacy, Training, and the Self-Diagnosis Tool.

You will find the Ask-the-Expert button at the top right of the page to contact our experts for free-of-charge advice on matters ranging from standards and compliance, due diligence, HR, business development or other topics.

You can also contact us to join the activities organised by our Advocacy Platform or to enquire about our training programmes.

All our publications in one place

Our library of publications holds over 200 articles, reports, guidelines, and case studies. Click on the Publications tab to open the megamenu with all categories. Our articles and case studies can be read online by all visitors.

In-depth reports and guidelines are available to all European SMEs, EU SME Centre partners and their members, as well as other stakeholders and students from EU Member States and countries participating in the Single Market Programme.

To download our market access reports and how-to guidelines for your industry, simply log in or create an account on our website. Eligible new accounts are activated by our team within two working days.

Direct video streaming

Have you missed one of our online events? You can now find our webinars in the Publications library and stream them directly on the website.

Our network of partners

Our Find Partners pages are here to help SMEs find and connect with the right business support and trade promotion organisations specialised in their region and sector. You will also find in this section a selection of service providers offering useful services to SMEs doing business in China.

Are you an organisation interested in becoming a partner? The EU SME Centre provides partners and their members with a full range of services including consultations, advice on legal issues and HR, advocacy, as well as expert speakers for events, joint research and content sharing.

We regularly organise joint events, helping partners’ members to learn about market opportunities and risks and to meet potential investors and distributors in China.

Find out more on our Partnership Package and contact our Partnership Coordinator: https://www.eusmecentre.org.cn/become-a-partner/

How do I stay up to date with the Centre’s activities and events?

You are welcome to sign up to our newsletter; we won’t spam your inbox. We will only email you to let you know about the events and new publications that are relevant to the interests you selected in your profile and to send you the monthly news.

We also post regularly on social media: you can follow us on LinkedIn, on WeChat, on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Why should I create an account on the EU SME Centre’s website?

Registered users get access to a wide range of services, entirely free of charge.

By creating an account, you will be able to browse our full library of market access reports, how-to guidelines, business articles, and case studies. Registered users can download our in-depth reports and guidelines, send us queries, as well as contact our partners directly.

Who can register? What’s the process?

All representatives of small and medium-sized businesses from European Union Member States and countries participating in the Single Market Programme can benefit from our full range of services, as well as representatives of business support organisations, trade promotion organisations, students and researchers from these countries. Representatives of organisations and companies from outside the EU and SMP-participating countries are not eligible.

The registration process is straightforward: simply fill in the Create an Account form by scanning the code below and, if eligible, your account will be activated by our team within a few business days.

I had an account on the former website. Do I need a new account?

Your account still exists and has been transferred to the new website. You simply need to reset your password when you first log in on the new version.

You will only need to reset your passport once. The reason we ask you to do this is to ensure that your account is fully secure and your information is protected in compliance with GDPR rules.

To reset, click on “Login” then on “Reset your password here”. Enter your registered email address. You will receive a link by email to choose a new password. You’re all set.

Where do I find the content most relevant to my needs?

We have developed a completely new version of our Self-Diagnosis Tool, with five short quizzes designed to help you identify knowledge gaps. You will find recommended content in an interactive way. The SDT topics are:

  • Exporting to China
  • China’s business and regulatory environment
  • Knowing your Chinese partners
  • Human resources and mobility
  • Food & beverage

And if I need to ask for advice?

Our team is ready to answer your questions! Our Ask-the-Expert service has been redesigned to be even more user-friendly. Simply fill in the form with your question after logging in and our expert will send you an independent and confidential reply within a few business days.

This service of first-line advice is entirely free. Our activities are funded by the European Union, no fee is charged at any point to benefit from our services. This is why only companies and organisations from EU Member states and SMP-participating countries are eligible.
