On 4 December, the EU SME Centre, in cooperation with the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, organised a networking lunch in Shenzhen for general managers of European small and medium-sized enterprises. The event gathered over 30 participants, who discussed the evolution of their business operations and the trends they have observed in the Greater Bay Area.
Opening remarks were delivered by Gianluca Giorgi, Vice Chair of the European Chamber South China Board. Next, EU SME Centre Team Leader Liam Jia presented the current policy landscape and common challenges faced by European SMEs in China, as well as the EU-funded services available to assist them.
Speakers Gianluca Giorgi, Tobias Könings, Vice Chair of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Forum, and Christian Gassner, Vice Chair of the Manufacturing Forum, shared their experiences of business in the GBA during a panel discussion moderated by Daisy Yang, Chair of the SME Forum.
Their discussion delved into common SME challenges and best practices in talent attraction and retention, green development and regulatory compliance, both for China and for the EU. After the discussion, all participants were invited to share insights and to create new connections during a networking lunch.
