Meeting with China MOFCOM and State Council on Open Government Information

On April 3rd, the EU SME Centre’s Advocacy team along with representatives of the European Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce took part in a meeting with Chinese officers to discuss how to improve government information disclosure in China and share best practices from Europe and the the United States.

Officers from China Ministry of Commerce’s Foreign Investment Administration Office and the State Council’s Government Information Disclosure Office participated in the meeting, which was held in an open and constructive manner.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the need of a transparent and inclusive consultation process during the legislative and decision making process. The meeting also discussed issues related to clear definitions in laws and regulations and how they are interpreted and implemented.

At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to repeat this kind of exchange in a more regular way and invite other ministries and agencies to join.
