- Gain an understanding of different types of Chinese investors in order to create partnerships

- In-depth understanding of the governance structure and decision-making in Chinese companies (SOEs vs. private enterprises)

About the Speakers
Dr. Haiyan ZHANG, EU SME Centre Expert Dr. Haiyan ZHANG is Associate Professor at NEOMA Business School, research fellow at College of Europe and Director of the NEOMA Confucius Institute for Business-Rouen. He is the EU SME Centre expert for Overseas Foreign Direct Investments from China towards the EU. He holds a MA and a PhD in Public Administration and Management from the University of Antwerp. His research interests include International Business Activities of Chinese and Overseas Chinese Owned Enterprises, Management Issues of International Joint Ventures in Transition Economies, High-Tech Industrial Agglomeration in China, Chinese Outward FDI in Europe, EU-China FDI Relations, etc.
He has published in journals such as the Management International Review and has contributed to books on Foreign Direct Investment in China and the internationalisation of Chinese Multinational Enterprises. He has consulted for trade associations, government institutions and multinational companies on various topics, such as US direct investment in Belgium, strategic management of bilateral cooperation with Chinese local authorities, merger and acquisition in China, etc. He has often participated in high level debates about EU-China investment relationship at EU institutions and think tank organisations. He has been also interviewed by a large number of Chinese, Belgian and international newspapers and Radio and TV channels, such as People’s China, Trends, New York Times, China Radio International, Euro News, European Parliament TV, etc.
Mark Hedley, Director – ICT Sector, China-Britain Business Council Mark Hedley is Sector Director for ICT and China Business Adviser at CBBC. A fluent Mandarin speaker, Mark has spent 15 years living on and travelling to China, including six years based in mainland China. He holds a Masters in Chinese Business and International Relations from the University of Sheffield
Having previously worked for a market entry consultancy in Shanghai, Mark has first-hand experience of carrying out on-the-ground business development projects for foreign companies entering the China market. Prior to joining CBBC, Mark headed-up the China operations of a leading international business-to-business research consultancy, where he worked with a wide range of multinational clients across the advanced manufacturing, education, energy, healthcare, ICT, and retail
