While in the first three quarters of 2024, China’s growth remained robust at 4.8 per cent, there has been a moderation since Q2 of 2024 due to a variety of factors, among which subdued demand and ongoing issues with the property sector. While the various policy measures rolled out in the second half of the year do go some way to address the current issues in the short term, more structural reforms will be required in order to effectively address these challenges to China’s economic growth.
