Call for Applicants and FAQ: Sustainable Business Awards 2024

The European Chamber Shanghai Chapter is proud to host the 8th annual Sustainable Business Awards (SBA). The 2024 edition will continue to put sustainability awareness at the forefront of its focus, recognising companies who push for sustainable economic growth, environmental care and social welfare. Applications are open from 14th May to 30th June 2024 (18:00). The points for late submissions will be deducted.

What are the Sustainable Business Awards?

Since being established in 2017, the European Chamber SBA have been continuously improving, growing, and promoting awareness of sustainability in business. In collaboration with our knowledge partner, SynTao, the objective of the European Chamber SBA is to:

• highlight innovative leadership achievement,
• advance sustainability awareness, and
• promote responsible business models.

What are the 2024 award categories?

There are 9 Award Categories in this year’s SBA:

• Biodiversity Conservation Leader 
• Circular Economy Pioneer
• Community Support and Employee Engagement Leader
• Decarbonisation Leader
• Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leader
• Environmental Pioneer 
• Resilient Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure Pioneer
• Supply Chain ESG Pioneer
• Technology for Sustainability Pioneer

Each category will require the submission of a detailed strategy and policy; a description of stakeholder engagement; an outline of practices and measures taken; the organisational structure; as well as other factors implemented by the company or organisation.

Why should you apply?

• Demonstrate your company’s leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
• Promote your brands at the awards ceremony on 4th September 2024. This year’s ceremony will feature the 8th anniversary of these awards and will be a large Chamber event in Shanghai. Hundreds of attendees will witness this critical moment with you.
• Winners’ companies or organisations will be invited to Sustainable Business VIP Talks to share their cases.

What do you need to know?

Application eligibility applies to all companies and organisations, whether they are members or not of the European Chamber. Members of the European Chamber do not have an application fee; non-members do have a 2,500 RMB application fee. There will be separate awards for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for each category. Please keep in mind applications close on 30th June 2024 (18:00). The points for late submissions will be deducted. We also encourage applicants to submit any relevant questions as soon as possible. When applying keep in mind we are looking for:

• Holistic demonstration on strategy, goals, and mechanisms
• One thorough and detailed case
• Data and strong evidence to show your impact
• Leadership and forward-thinking
• Goals and Mechanisms

How will winners be celebrated?

On 4th September 2024, the European Chamber will host a ceremony in Shanghai to award the winners of this year’s edition. This event will celebrate the 8th anniversary of these awards with the presence of members, partners, representatives from EU Member States Consulates, and media.

The deadline for applying is 30th June 2024 (18:00). The points for late submissions will be deducted. Once you have completed your application form(s), please email it to sba_submission@europeanchamber.com.cn, naming the email subject as: SBA Application_[Award Category]_[Your Company Name].
