Advocacy Actions: Meeting with the Jiangmen Bureau of Investment Promotion

On 13 February 2025, SME Forum South China Chapter Chair Daisy Yang and Vice Chair Danica Mai, with European Chamber Business and Government Affairs Manager Lynn Wu held a meeting with Director Zhong Wenming of the Bureau of Investment Promotion of Jiangmen, and Deputy Director Guo Tong of the Investment Promotion Division. President Xu Zhaoyun of the Jiangmen Enterprise Investment Development Promotion Association, Director Zhao Xiaobin and Deputy Director Gan Yanyan of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangmen also attended the meeting.

Director Zhong Wenming provided a detailed introduction to the business environment in Jiangmen, European companies in Jiangmen, and the direction of investment of European companies. Lynn Wu introduced the European Chamber and the EU SME Centre, and Daisy Yang shared situations of European companies of doing business in China. President Xu Zhaoyun shared information about some European companies and introduced Jiangmen’s situation and achievements as the fifth platform for China-foreign SME cooperation. The three parties discussed and exchanged views on the needs of European enterprises in China regarding ESG, cross-border data transmission and other issues.

In the end, Director Zhong Wenming hoped that the Bureau of Investment Promotion could connect with more foreign companies, thus promoting government-company exchanges. He also highlighted that Jiangmen’s industrial foundation is suitable for hosting large foreign manufacturing companies. Both parties agreed to explore more potential cooperation opportunities and strengthen communication.
