August 15th 2017, Beijing —The EU SME Centre and the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) held a preliminary meeting at the Centre office to discuss possible ways of cooperation in helping more European SMEs to introduce their technologies to the Chinese market.

During the meeting, two parties discussed common interests and proposed a number of areas to initiate cooperation, including inviting CATARC to share updates of policies, regulations and standards in China’s automotive sector with Centre’s European SME networks, organising activities on topics that reflect emerging trends in this sector, and matchmaking the needs from both Chinese and European sides.

The representatives of CATARC expressed the interest to work together with the Centre, sharing the idea of developing a platform for international automotive technologies and to deliver consultation on strategy, policy and issues relating to technology transfers and patents. CATARC also introduced their unique role involved in the drafting process of China’s automotive industry standards and policies.

Mr. Rafael Jimenez, the Business Development Advisor of the EU SME Centre, showed a number of cases of European SMEs that possessed technologies with potentials to help Chinese enterprises to advance in the industry.
